The Story Behind the Music
Howard Parker (affectionately known as HP) is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose Bayou roots fuel a vibrant sound that stretches far beyond New Orleans, blending the spirit of Zydeco, Blues, Folk, and Bluegrass into one irresistible musical experience. Backed by the Hot Take-Out Band, HP delivers heartfelt originals and inventive covers with energy, soul, and unmistakable style.
A seasoned performer, HP has brought his music to legendary New York City venues including CBGB, Kenny’s Castaways, The Bitter End, Terra Blues, Manny’s Carwash, and The Bottom Line. In New Jersey, he has appeared at the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Festival, The Wonder Bar, Asbury Park Yacht Club, Triumph Brewery, and countless other beloved venues, earning a reputation for engaging performances that keep audiences coming back for more.

Steve "O" Nelson - Spicerack
Steve “O” Nelson brings the heart and soul of New Orleans wherever he performs. A former employee of the legendary Tipitina’s and founder of the innovative “Percussion Board,” Steve “O” has shared stages with acclaimed artists including the Neville Brothers, Subdudes, Radiators, Phish, and Zachary Richard.
A dynamic frontman, gifted songwriter, and master percussionist, he commands the stage with infectious energy, unforgettable rhythms, and a larger-than-life presence. Whether casting a cajon-driven groove over the crowd or delivering his signature gritty vocals, Steve “O” creates performances that are equal parts raw, soulful, and electrifying.
Bruce Gassman - Accordion
Bruce Gassman has been making musical magic with the accordion since age nine, launching a remarkable career that began with solo appearances alongside symphony orchestras and studies with legendary accordion master Joseph Biviano. By 15, he was the youngest member of the Accordion Symphony Society of New York, sharing the stage with accordion icon Charles Magnante.
Over the years, Bruce has toured, rocked the Jersey Shore music scene on accordion, Hammond B3, and Fender Rhodes, and performed alongside legends including B.B. King, James Cotton, Bruce Springsteen, and Southside Johnny. A passionate musician and community champion, he became the first accordionist to perform with Holiday Express and has appeared at numerous charitable events, including the Restore the Shore benefit concert. Since joining HP & His Hot Take-Out Band in 2013, Bruce has brought his colorful musicianship, boundless energy, and unmistakable style to every performance.
Bobby “Pocket-Man” Boyd - Drums
Bobby Boyd has been behind the drums since the age of five, building a career defined by versatility, musicianship, and a lifelong passion for rhythm. A seasoned performer and educator, he attended the prestigious Tidewater Music Festival for five consecutive summers and began teaching professionally in 1977.
Over the decades, he has toured nationally, performed with artists including Little Anthony, The Platters, and The Diamonds, and recorded music for the television series All My Children. As an original member of Holiday Express, he has helped bring music and joy to countless audiences while sharing stages with notable performers such as Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Rob Thomas, Daryl Hall, and Cyndi Lauper. His appearances have included The Today Show, Rockefeller Center's Tree Lighting, major telethons, and numerous television specials.
An accomplished clinician, recording artist, and educator, he currently performs with several acclaimed groups while freelancing throughout the region. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Monmouth University and has contributed to both Modern Drummer and Classic Drummer magazines, earning respect as both a performer and mentor in the drumming community.
